On High Waists

High-waisted pants and shorts have come back (since 2007, actually) but it seems that only a few have taken interest in it. Unlike the skinny jeans which have pervasively replaced bell bottoms since 2005, high-waisted pants have been sparingly used. This comes as no surprise. Skinny jeans are quite easy to pull-off.

High waists, however, are quite complex. You’ve got to have the right body type and you have to mix your outfit perfectly so it looks good on you. High waists are recommended for people with slim waists just like Jerose below who looked very sexy in a high-waisted skirt.
However, if you are not endowed with such features, there's no harm in trying out this fad. You just gotta choose the right combination for your body type. High waists may be shorts, pants or skirt. My sister is a huge fan of anything that is high-waisted. For her OJT, she had several pairs of high-waisted skinny pants tailored.

Just recently, high-waisted dresses have also been making its way into the fashion scene here in the City. Vallerie, an officemate...wore this on one of her night-outs and she looked really good (your left):
I have also tried high-waists quite a number of times...though I have had some mistakes in a few. For this next photo, I know I shouldn't have worn loose, white long sleeves for my high-waisted skirt because it made me look heavier.

Here are some of my passable pictures, though.

My favorite celebrity for high-waist gears is Leighton Meester. Her body is so perfect for such style.

The worst celebrity to have worn high-waisted pants is Jessica Simpson. This pairing made her look fatter not only because of its cut but also because of its color.

And of course, who can forget her in this unflattering picture which made media frenzy.

So, how about you guys? Any stylish picture you want to share in your fave high-waist???? Do share them!
